Q: What is ductless/recirculating range hood?

A: Ductless / Recirculating range hood does not require ductwork, it is designed for non-ducted / duct-free residential. It includes charcoal filters to help filtering and recirculating the smoke and odors. However, it cannot remove the smoke our of your home.

What is the difference between Premium/Deluxe and Brillia?

Premium and Deluxe lines represent the top of the line of KOBE Range Hoods. Models from these lines typically include more functions and features such as 4-6 fan speed, multi-level lighting, LED display, electronic buttons, 3 minute delay shutoff, and ECO Mode. Despite having the same material quality, Brillia line is more economical because it offers limited, basic functions.

What is the difference between Premium (-1) and Deluxe (-5)?

The difference between Premium and Deluxe models lies in the CFM (cubic feet per minute). Premium models have higher CFM due to a more powerful blower while Deluxe models have lower CFM. Premium models also come with a 2 Year Parts & Labor warranty while Deluxe models come with a 2 Year Parts & 1 Year Labor warranty.

What is QuietMode™?

QuietMode™ feature allows the range hood to operate on the lowest CFM at a reduced sound level of 40 Decibels (1 Sone). Allowing the user to effectively vent the kitchen without the noise a typical range hood generates.

What is ECO Mode?

ECO Mode promotes a cleaner kitchen air quality without the work of manually turning the range hood on or off. KOBE’s Eco Mode features an automatic mechanism that runs the range hood on QuietMode™ setting for 10 minutes every hour to remove excess moisture, microscopic particles and odor.

What is Multi-Style hood?

Multi-Style hood can be installed as an under cabinet or a stand alone wall mount. This versatile feature gives the freedom to install the range hood in any kind of kitchen setting without limitation. (Duct cover is included in wall mount hood only)

What is Parametric Panel?

A parametric panel increases static air pressure by limiting airflow space. Panel may be opened or removed to access the filters for cleaning purposes. Parametric panel apply to KOBE Brillia CHX30 Series only.

What type of blower system KOBE uses?

KOBE uses 2 types of blower systems to maximize CFM and filtration while minimizing noise and power consumption. The types of blower systems used are Twin Vertical Turbine Impeller and Single Horizontal Squirrel Cage.

How to clean my range hood?

1) For optimal performance, clean the range hood surface and baffles regularly.

2) NEVER USE ABRASIVE CLEANERS, PADS, OR CLOTHS.

3) To Clean Hood Surface:

  • Use only mild soap or detergent solutions. Dry surfaces using soft cloth.
  • If hood looks splotchy (stainless steel hood), use a stainless steel cleaner to clean the surface of the hood.
  • Avoid getting cleaning solution onto or into the control panel. Follow directions of the stainless steel cleaner. Caution: Do not leave on too long as this may cause damage to hood finish.
  • Use soft towel to wipe off the cleaning solution, gently rub off any stubborn spots. Use dry soft towel to dry the hood.
  • DO NOT allow deposits to accumulate or remain on the hood.
  • DO NOT use ordinary steel wool or steel brushes. Small bits of steel may adhere to the surface and cause rusting.
  • DO NOT allow salt solutions, disinfectants, bleaches, or cleaning compounds to remain in contact with stainless steel for extended periods. Many of these compounds contain chemicals, which may be harmful. Rinse with water after exposure and wipe dry with a clean lint free cloth.

4) To Clean Baffle Filter/Spacers (for Baffle Filter models only):

  • DRAIN OIL FROM BAFFLE FILTERS, SPACERS & OIL TUNNEL (IF ANY) REGULARLY TO PREVENT OVERFLOW.
  • Caution: Sharp Edges
  • Remove all the baffle filters, spacers and oil tunnel (if any).
  • Using a sponge, wash with warm soapy water.
  • Baffle Filters are top rack dishwasher safe.
  • Dry completely before returning into place.

5) To Clean Oil Containers, Safety Screens and Impellers (for Oil Container models only)

  • DRAIN OIL CONTAINER BEFORE OIL CAN OVERFLOW.
  • Spray a mild degreaser into the fan and turn on high speed. Liquid residue will accumulate in the oil containers.
  • Cleaning Oil Containers:
    i. Remove the oil container (round) by turning counter-clockwise.
    ii. Remove the oil container (oval) by sliding forward.
    iii. Wash with warm soapy water. Dry completely before returning into place.
    iv. Top rack dishwasher safe.
  • Cleaning Safety Screens:
    i. Remove the safety screen screw and slide the safety screen out.
    ii. Wash with warm soapy water. Dry completely before returning into place.
    iii. Top rack dishwasher safe.

Q: How far does the hood have to be above the cooking surface?

A: The recommended distance from the bottom of the range hood to the cooking surface is 26″~30″ for under the cabinet and wall mount style hoods, 30″~36″ for island hoods and 30″~36″ for Dual Blower (1200 CFM) hood (accept Built-In hoods).
