FAQ

GENERAL

Q:  How far does the hood have to be above the cooking surface?
A:  The recommended distance from the bottom of the range hood to the cooking surface is 27" ~ 30" for under the cabinet and wall mount style hoods, and 30" ~ 36" for island hoods.  Please view diagram.

Q:  Why can't the KOBE range hood be more than the required height from the cooking surface?
A:  The required distance is the optimal distance between the hood and the cooking surface.  KOBE range hood  is powerful enough so it can be installed at a minimum of 27" for under cabinet and wall mount, and 30" for island hood.  Any higher than the required height the effectiveness of the range hood will be reduced.

Q:  What is the maximum length that I can vent my range hood?
A:  The maximum length will be 50 feet (depending on model and installation).

Q:  Can I vent my hood through the side of the house, instead of through the ceiling?
A:  Yes, but please make sure that the ductwork attached to your KOBE range hood is at least 2 feet high before the 90° elbow turn to the wall.

Q:  Can I use KOBE range hood as ductless?
A:  Yes, you can purchase KOBE carbon filter to attach to the hood or ductless hoods are also available from KOBE.  Please check with KOBE customer service for more details.

Q:  What are the oil containers/cups?
A:  Most KOBE range hoods are equipped with 4 oil containers/cups that hold the excess oil & residue.  These are located under each impeller/fan & behind each impeller/fan.

Q:  Why use the oil containers/cups?
A:  The oil containers/cups eliminate the use of filters.  You can see the accumulation of the oil/residue in the clear containers which is also easy to maintain & clean.  The oil, steam and smoke are drawn through the impellers/fans, the oil & residue is trapped in the enclosed oil tunnel & drained to the oil containers/cups.

Q:  Does KOBE range hood include a damper?
A:  No, most of the range hood does not include a damper.  A damper can be purchase through hardware stores.  Only the CX-183 Series includes a damper.

Q:  I notice there are scratches on my KOBE range hood, what should I do?
A:  When you receive your KOBE range hood, please inspect the hood and check for all parts.  First, please check to see if there is a protective film on the hood.  This protective film protects the finish of the hood and may cause the hood to look like it has scratches.  Please peel the protective film off & double check.  If you still see scratches on the hood, please contact the store where you purchased the hood.

Q:  I purchased my range hood through the Internet.  When the hood arrives, there are missing parts, what should I do?
A:  Please contact KOBE customer service.  Have your invoice or packing list on hand so you can provide the necessary information to the representative.

Q:  Is KOBE hood certified?
A:  KOBE range hoods is CSA (U.S.A & Canada) and ETL  (U.S.A & Canada)approved.
